Christina Mckelvie MSP, the SNP MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse, has welcomed a new poll by Electoral Calculus showing support for Yes vote, in favour of Scottish independence, continuing to lead.

In this latest poll, support for independence sits at 54% which builds on the momentum from the two additional polls released over the last 2 weeks - all three showing support for independence increasing.

Commenting, Christina said:

“It is encouraging to see another poll showing a clear majority of people in Scotland are now supporting independence, a trend I can only imagine will continue.

“People know that an independent Scotland could look after the needs of the nation far more competently than the succession of incompetent Westminster government’s that Scotland have had to endure. Scotland hasn’t even voted for them.

“We all know that the Prime Minister roulette that the Tory party are participating in is damaging for people in Scotland, and the pro-Brexit Labour party have become a Trumpian democracy-denying Tory tribute act.

“Therefore, it is no surprise that the support for an independent Scotland is clearly growing and solidifying with a firm majority. The people of Scotland know that the SNP works solely with their best interests at heart, whereas the pro-brexit Tory and Labour parties offer only a dystopian, anti-democratic future.

“In contrast, the SNP are offering a fairer, greener, more prosperous future where Scotland’s future is truly in Scotland’s hands. A referendum is the democratic right of Scotland and a democratic necessity, and the SNP and Green’s combined majority makes this case plainly.”
