SSE Renewables has opened their South Lanarkshire wide Sustainable Development Fund this week.

This funding is coming from Clyde Wind Farm (Scotland) Ltd and there is £600,000 available for local charities and community groups. This fund supports strategic projects across the local authority area and closes on the 18th of January 2023.

Example projects which have been funded in other regions to support the net zero transition include projects which upskill residents to enter green jobs, electric vehicles for community transport schemes, de-carbonising heating systems, providing advice services and community owned renewables.

Commenting, Christina McKelvie SNP MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse said:

“Given the current climate emergency and the challenges facing communities, it is important the organisation are supported during this time. I highly recommend that groups in my constituency apply for this”
