Christina McKelvie MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse has welcomed the news that ScotRail will now officially be coming under public sector ownership.
This news comes as the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon visited Glasgow train station, Queen Street, to mark Scotrail officially coming under public sector ownership on the 1st of April.
Over this weekend (1st April-3rd April), under 16’s can travel for free on Scotrail services to welcome Scotrail being nationalised.
This new beginning puts passengers and staff at the heart of all rail series.

Commenting, Christina McKelvie, SNP MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse said:
“This is a historic and momentous occasion which marks the delivery of a key milestone in our ambitious Programme for Government to support a greener, fairer, more prosperous Scotland.
“Many people have worked extremely hard to work towards this moment to deliver a smooth transition into public ownership and this will benefit many people across Scotland, as well as in my constituency.
“I hope under-16’s will be able to take advantage of the free weekend of travel from 1st – 3rd April.”
