Christina McKelvie MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse has welcomed figures from NHS Lanarkshire which show that 93.6% of those aged over 16 have received their first dose of the covid-19 vaccine.
As of 30 September, 509,229 people in Lanarkshire have received their first dose of the covid-19 vaccine, with 472,288 of those having received their second dose.
The 1st October will also be the last day for drop-in vaccination clinics to allow NHS Lanarkshire to provide flu vaccinations and covid booster shots. People will still be able to reschedule vaccine appointments if unsuitable and if they need a first dose they can call the national helpline on 0800 030 8013. Commenting Christina said:
"My thanks go out to all the NHS Lanarkshire staff and volunteers who have worked tirelessly during the pandemic to keep us all safe. While there is still some work to go, this fantastic progress is a testament to the work being done day in and day out by everyone involved in the vaccination program across Lanarkshire.
"I would also like to thank everyone in Lanarkshire who has come forward for their vaccination and urge those who are still to receive their first dose to get in touch with the national helpline to protect themselves and others."
