Christina McKelvie, MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse Constituency, welcomed the expansion of Scotland’s Service Directory to South Lanarkshire. The directory has been designed by both NHS 24 and MacMillan Cancer Support as part of a host of different services available on the national NHS inform website. NHS Lanarkshire is one of four health board areas which are piloting the new service before it is rolled out nationally.
By visiting the website members of the public can find out where their nearest services are for things like A&E, minor injury unit, GP practice, pharmacy, opticians, dentists, sexual health clinic. The service also provides information on other health and wellbeing services covering issues like keeping active, food and nutrition, money advice, carer services, cancer services and help for stopping smoking.
Welcoming this new service Christina said: “It is great to see partnership working between NHS Scotland and organisations like MacMillan Cancer Support delivering in such a concrete way with this new online tool. By bringing services and support for a range of issues together in one easy to navigate place will help people take control of their own wellbeing and work to prevent ill-health through earlier intervention.”
“I would highly recommend that anyone who is looking for more advice or support in NHS Lanarkshire take full advantage of this new service.”
