The SNP has ramped up pressure on the Prime Minister to publish the UK government's economic impact analysis of her Brexit deal - warning Theresa May cannot continue to duck scrutiny or expect MPs to vote blindfolded for her damaging deal.

Having secured an Urgent Question on the issue in the House of Commons, SNP Westminster Leader Ian Blackford MP said it was clear the Tory leader knew her proposed plan would be a disaster for Scotland and devastating for jobs, living standards and the economy.

The National Institute of Economic & Social Research (NIESR) has warned that, “If the UK government’s proposed Brexit deal is implemented, then GDP in the longer term will be around 4 per cent lower than it would have been had the UK stayed in the EU.”

Commenting, Ian Blackford MP said:

"Theresa May is trying to avoid all scrutiny by refusing to publish the UK government's economic impact analysis of her damaging Brexit deal.

"It is clear the Prime Minister knows her proposals would be a disaster for Scotland -and devastating for jobs, living standards and the economy.

"We know Brexit would inflict lasting harm - hitting Scotland's GDP by up to 9%, putting 100,000 jobs on the line, and costing our economy £12.7billion a year, the equivalent of £2,300 for every person in the country.

"It is staggering that we are just 37 days away from crashing out of the EU, and the UK government has still not published any economic analysis of the Brexit deal they are asking MPs to support.

"Despite being asked countless times the Prime Minister has refused to confirm or deny whether her government has even carried out an economic impact analysis of her deal - it is the height of irresponsibility.

“The Tories cannot be allowed to drive Scotland off the Brexit cliff-edge. Theresa May must publish an analysis on her deal immediately – and if no analysis has been produced, then she must come clean."
