St Cuthberts School Visit

Local MSP Christina McKelvie meets pupils at their ‘world of work’ week.

Primary school pupils of St. Cuthbert’s Primary school are ready and prepared for work as they completed their ‘world of work’ week last week.

The pupils, who had heard from a range of presenters including Police Scotland and G4S, rounded off their ‘world of work’ week with a visit from MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse, Christina McKelvie.

The invite to Ms. McKelvie comes after senior St. Cuthbert’s pupils previously visited The Scottish Parliament to receive a tour and learn more about the iconic building.

The SNP MSP Christina McKelvie gave the pupils an overview of a day in the life of an MSP. Following the presentation, Christina held a question and answer session with the pupils.

Commenting, Christina McKelvie MSP said:

“Hearing and talking to the pupils of St. Cuthbert’s was an incredible joy and I thank the teachers and staff for organising such an exciting event.

“Preparing the pupils for the ‘world of work’ is a vital tool as they leave primary school and begin their journey to secondary school and onwards.

“It’s clear to see that the leadership, thoughtfulness and dynamism of the staff is having a real positive impact on the pupils – who didn’t hold back in their questioning!”

“The pupils of St. Cuthbert’s are a real credit to their school, their families and to the wider community and deserve special recognition for their exemplary attention, focus and ability to learn during their ‘world of work’ week

Commenting on the programme, Principal Teacher Frances Cran added:

"We are very grateful to Ms McKelvie for taking time to share her experience with our children.

"This week has provided our pupils with a superb learning opportunity listening to a wide variety of speakers.

It is imperative that we enable all our pupils to have the highest of aspirations for their future. In St. Cuthbert’s we are committed to partnership working to provide our pupils with the opportunity to develop key knowledge and skills in preparation for the world of the work.

Hi Charlotta,

Great, can we reserve that please?

Kind regards,

Freddie
