Commenting on the recent General Election results, Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse MSP, Christina McKelvie stated:

“The results show clearly that the SNP remain the people of Scotland’s choice in defending them from a hard-tory Brexit and continuing austerity.

“Whilst I am undoubtedly delighted that South Lanarkshire returned two SNP MPs in Angela Crawley and Lisa Cameron, to lose such a hard-working and determined MP in Margaret Ferrier was a loss to us all.

“Margaret was a fine voice for her constituents and, whilst we wish her successor well, be in no doubt that they have some big shoes to fill.

“As a party, we will reflect on the results. Whilst we recognise that we did not match the highs of 2015, make no mistake that the SNP will continue to be Scotland’s voice as Theresa May pursues an unrelenting coalition of chaos.
