Scottish Government figures reveal that a total of 186 organisations have registered for the campaign, designed to improve gender balance.

SNP MSP Christina McKelvie has hailed the impact of the Partnership for Change 50/50 by 2020 campaign, which has seen a total of 186 organisations sign up since its launch in June 2015. The figures were revealed in a written question to Scottish Government Communities Minister, Angela Constance.

Some 88 public bodies, 63 third sector organisations and 35 private companies have already signed up their commitment to better gender balance, especially on organisational boards where women are very poorly represented.

Christina, who is convener of the Scottish Parliament's Equal Opportunities Committee, said:

“It is fantastic to see such a positive response to the 50/50 by 2020 campaign – which will help us build a more equal society by ensuring that there is improved gender balance on boards

“The fact that 186 organisations have signed up to the campaign since its launch in June 2015 shows the appetite for change in Scotland on this vital issue, as we seek to ensure that women are better able to progress within the workplace.

“The Scottish Government has been fantastic in taking the lead on issues of social justice – with the 50/50 by 2020 campaign working alongside initiatives such as the Scottish Business Pledge and Scottish Living Wage, which are instrumental in helping us build a fairer, more equal Scotland for all.”
