Christina McKelvie, MSP, Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse, has presented a £100 personal donation to Larkhall Community Growers.
She said: "Larkhall Community Growers is a fantastic, grass-roots organisation and its volunteers currently in the process of helping people across the local area - they also have a few exciting ideas they are working on and are hoping to develop, so watch this space.”
The local non-for-profit organisation seeks to positively impact upon the lives of members of the Larkhall community. Their first project created a community garden with raised beds, allowing everyone from children to elderly people with reduced mobility to enjoy the experience of growing fresh produce on a formerly vacant site in the Hareleeshill area.
Christina explains: "Occasionally I get the opportunity to complete paid-for surveys in my capacity as a Member of the Scottish Parliament. Every time I receive payment, I donate it - in full - to a local organisation.
"I have given money to a range of local organisations across my constituency. This time, I picked on this great project as an excellent beneficiary.”
