MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse, Christina McKelvie, has welcomed a £6,000 grant for local charity, Lanarkshire Rape Crisis Centre, from the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland. Every year, the Foundation distributes just under £1 million through its Henry Duncan Awards to grassroots charities working in their local communities.
Lanarkshire Rape Crisis Centre which is based in Hamilton, Larkhall & Stonehouse has been awarded the grant towards the salary of the full-time Manager.
Commenting, Christina McKelvie MSP said:
“These awards show how the Foundation continues to be at the heart of funding local communities. I’m delighted these grassroots charities are receiving these funds, enabling them to continue their great work in my constituency. Many of the Henry Duncan grants go on staff and running costs, meaning they are a lifeline for local groups who otherwise wouldn't be able to meet these expenses.”
Fiona Duncan, Chief Executive of the Foundation, added:
“Our mission is to make a difference to the lives of individuals and communities in Scotland. We do this by encouraging positive change, opportunities, fairness and growth of aspirations, which improve the quality of life. We believe in investing in Scotland’s communities and are proud of the difference we support people to make through our c.£1m annual Henry Duncan Awards.
