Christina McKelvie MSP, Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse, has welcomed a draft plan for the future of Stonehouse Park. She joined the second Friends of Stonehouse Park on Saturday last (13th August) for the annual Fun Day where she heard more about the plans and the thinking behind them.
She said: “The Friends have really come together as a community with great support from all around the area. They have already secured £2,200 to complete a Feasibility Study and have consulted widely to find out more about what local people – including the children – want from their park.”
The FoSP want to improve the park’s leisure facilities and integrate the formal areas into the woodland, thus broadening the appeal for visitors. The group has received over 300 replies in the consultation period.
Christina added: “I am so impressed by this community effort, the energy and determination that surround it. I totally support their efforts and wish the project well as it moves forward.”
