Children’s Hearings Scotland is reaching out to recruit Panel members willing and able to support vulnerable children facing challenging problems. The organisation wants to find 500 new Children’s Panel members.

Starting on 15 August, a campaign based on the social media Thunderclap platform aims to find 1 million people who will sign up to share the message through Facebook Twitter and Tumbler.

Christina McKelvie MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse will be supporting the Thunderclap through her own social media channels. She says: “Children’s Panel members are ordinary people who have chosen to do something extraordinary and make a positive contribution to children and young people who are at risk in their community. They will receive the right training and support, they come from all kinds of backgrounds and they give generously of their time, skills and commitment to help improve outcomes for children and young people.

“I know that there are people in this constituency who have not only the skills and experience for this task but the genuine desire to help kids get the best chances for the future.”
